Every culture uses the technology of the frame, a contraption used to hold something else in place and display it. Is it possible to define architecture as manipulation of this elementary technology, namely, the frame? Once it’s built it isn’t merely a tool but becomes a visible value. Each period, each work and artist create self-expression, which allows us to read the work of the past and also – we hope – to prepare ourselves for what is to come in the future. And we have come a long from the first settlements to our modern urban spaces. The aim of the work is to combine materials to build a frame that will last, develop and multiply. Over time the created frames will accumulate cultural, political, and visual traces according to shifting relations between people, city, and culture.
