Artist Run / Kraft and Food
Kraft means strength in many languages. It is a collective artist-run project, Patricia Qi (writer, editor) Mikaela Lakova (media, research) and I (ceramist, visual) started developing together. It is to campaign an idea to bring social change, awareness for the food culture.
Kraft and Food is an enlightening and compelling look at the evolution of what food means to us through the history of food preparation and its universal ability to connect us. Highlighting our primal need to food, we urge a return to the kitchen to reclaim our lost traditions and to forge a deeper, more meaningful connection to the ingredients and cooking techniques that we use to nourish ourselves.
’I had given up on my banana plant. It had turned crisp, brown and tired-looking (human equivalent: not breathing).
Then today around 12 PM, after the February sun passed morning till noon shining through the windows of my living room (where I had left this failure of an attempt to keep alive a tropical plant in a not-so-tropical environment, reminding myself to steer clear of banana plants or any other plant that needs constant warmth, humidity, and sudden intense rain showers) all of a sudden I noticed three newly grown green sprouts of plant!
I might be an unintentional plant-killer. But plants are strong. Never give up on a plant.’ credits – Patricia Qi
